Cam and I had walked by 22 Doors several times, always commenting that we should give it a try as the name is so close to our own restaurant in Whistler. A few weeks ago, we made it in, because Costal, down the street, had a line. And, we were very pleasantly rewarded for our adventurous spirit.
22 Doors isn’t fine dining… it’s simply prepared, and delicious comfort food. That night, Cam had the pork chops and roasted potatoes. I had a veggie Campanelle pasta, which sadly, has since left the menu (although it’s on their website… so perhaps it’s coming back). The pork had a blueberry chutney sauce, sweet and tart but not over powering, drizzled over the top. The pork chops were tasty, although nothing to rave about. However, the potatoes. Wow. I’ve never had such great roasted potatoes. Each little chunk was the texture of butter on the inside and perfectly crisp outside, with just the right amount of salt and rosemary. And the pasta. This was mac and cheese for an adult palate. The white wine sauce was richly creamy, but not heavy. The capers, chile flakes and tomatoes provided a zing with each bite.

Our second trip was brunch… on the first day! Other than the fact that they don’t offer espresso drinks, it was as delectable as the dinner. The brunch menu has a nice balance of lunch and breakfast items. Again, the potatoes (this time the french fries and hash browns) stole the show. This place just has a way with potatoes! However, my salmon omelette was light and flavorful as well.

With plenty of seating, a nice patio, and it’s simple, good food, it’s a place we’ll certainly be back to.
