Hi,
I have a family farm on PEI and grow Irish Cobbler seed potatoes. The interest in this heirloom variety continues to grow each year. We also grow Green Mountain potatoes which although a later maturing variety, I believe to superior in taste to the Irish Cobblers.

L, that place sounds wonderful indeed! Your mussels making me crave for some. Lovely photos.

We are very lucky to have the chance to buy fresh potatoes straight from the farms here. I bought a big bag of 'new potatoes', fresh carrots with their leaves still intact, green beans and pea pods just on Sunday, whilst out on a drive [here in Jersey, most farmers sell their crops outside their farmhouses on a small makeshift hut [un-manned]. It's called 'honest box' - people are trusted to pay for the vegetables in the small 'petty cash boxes' honestly!].

Wow! After our somewhat disorganized & frustrating vacation on Vashon, I'm going to have to PEI on my list for next year's birthday, or anniversary, or something. Looks like the kind of place I've been searching for... Thanks for the tip.

I loved that post. For one , it reminded me of Anne of Green Gables and how much I loved it. And now I think it sounds rather like Galicia, in our own nort west. I must try that recipe with galician mussels.

Ah travel and recipes.. .a subject near and dear to my heart.... As a (albeit fomer now) native NYer and grad of NY Cul Institute , my travels and life have taken me from 77th and second in Manhattan to owning a newly built bed and breakfast log home on 40 acres in Montana... Here at the Fish Creek House we're always conjuring up new recipes from freshly caught grilled trout for breakfast to scrambles.

we can rustle up your "camp" breakfast before you head on out

Thanks for the nice guide to steaming mussels. And -- your description of the potatoes made me long for fingerlings to begin appearing at our farmer's market. Yum. I also enjoyed your gorgeous photos, so very much. I want to go to PEI ASAP!

Thanks Bea - it is a wonderfully relaxing place to visit.

Keiko & Kayln - thanks!

Sigrid - We didn't manage any frites while we were there, as I'm sure I would have in Belgium! And what a lovely blog you have! It makes me wish I knew Italian.

Christine - Yes, as odd as it sounds, I guess I've never really had a fresh potatoe... but I've got the room so I should get on growing my own!
