Thanks Katie! I was really happy with this. I've still got more plums, so I may be making more!

Anni - yes, I am VERY lucky. I had a house with several trees of them many years ago, but I've really missed them. It was so nice of my neighbors to give me so many!

Peabody - Thanks!

Bea - Yes, I think you would like it! Thanks!

Anita - I absolutely love the Donna Hay cookbook. Definitely worth checking out. (and thanks for the link to the brandied plum recipe! Sounds yummy!)

Thanks Helen!

ps: your mention of prune plums made me utterly homesick for seattle... I haven't seen one since moving back, and to think they're so plentiful up there that people are composting them!

Katie, here's one of our favorite ways to use up a bumper crop: http://marriedwithdinner.com/archives/17

Thanks for the cookbook tip -- I've been meaning to look into some of Donna Hay's titles and now I've got it on request at the library. :D Your description of the stylish variations won me over.

What a lovely wrapped gift of warmth and comfort. That's what this cute little package says to me. The only thing that's keeping me from tearing into this is that minor knot, a profound detail.

When I find myself with luscious, rare fruit like the beautful Italian plums, I am inclined to put up jams, preserves, pickles and chutneys to make them last until my next acquisition. You are fortunate to have an easy source.

Tootles,
Anni :-)
